If We Were Together (Poem from "If You Were Me")
IF WE WERE TOGETHER
I felt the love when you died.
Too much for me to take,
what if we could do a remake?
What our lives could have been
if we decided to stick together?
Please, don’t make me beg,
it's like a rope around my neck
Join my ride once you can,
don’t clap your hands
if you wish to pretend.
I’m here standing and still
with those words to spill.
A million times before you,
the sky was to me so blue.
Now, I imagine it red
like I’m done or dead.
This poem is a sample of the first chapter of my new book called "If You Were Me".
